Who?

The people behind

José Luis González Castro

regular articles, site management&design

I started this magazine with the purpose of sharing with others those things that often attract my interest, either while I browse the web or in my daily life. The title comes from a pun I make when I talk to people of these things and they say them to be nerdy: I´m Not A Nerd, I´m a nan! -For some reason, making the statement above doesn´t help much…;) All in all, I think I´m just a person whith lots of curiosity for the surrounding world.

As for my occupation, I hold a masters in piano performance and at the present moment I´m almost finished studying musical Composition in Vigo (Spain). If you want to listen to the music I make, just go back to the root of this site.

Stephanie Unverricht

editorial advisor, article proofing

A second, fresh read helps to ensure that no mistake in an article passes unnoticed. Stephanie does that and more, since she always brings up any unclear passages, and usually has at hand a tip on how to clarify them. Stephanie is currently studying music performance (Bassoon) at the University of Ottawa, in Canada.

Ángel González Nogueira

contributor

Ángel is an enterpreneur who works in his own consulting company, eDAN Xestión. He has written many short stories and articles for magazines and the radio, and is a talented songwriter too.

José Carlos Bellido Bello

contributor

Carlos holds a MS in Computer Science from the University of Zaragoza. He´s currently working for UCGames, and writes articles related to Computer Game Development in his own blog, The long Tomorrow (in spanish). Most of these articles are of a technical nature; however, from time to time he also writes on his reflections about gaming and games. We will periodically feature translations of these articles.

Ana Martínez Pedrosa

contributor

Ana holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She has written articles for many journals and publications, and is currently working for the spanish ABC newspaper.

Jorge Sergio Iglesias

contributor

A passionate synthesist and music connoisseur, Jorge is a reference in the field of “independent new musics” -quite broad term!-, and he regularly writes articles on new releases and interviews musicians from every corner of the world. Jorge is currently managing the site Articmist.

What?

Amusing bits of information

The scope of the articles that you can find here is fairly broad, as they reflect the individual interests of the writers. NAN is a magazine, however, so we only speak of ourselves when what we do could be of “general interest”. We also try that a good percentage of the articles are not linked to especific events in the present so that they remain fresh for a long time. In all, our interest is to amuse, to show you new things or give you a new insight on things you already knew about.

How?

An emphasis in content

We do our best to make our articles of your interest through intelligent, polished content. This is not to say that we don´t make errors: early editions often come with mistakes. However, we review, re-review and keep on reviewing past articles even years (two years now) after they were published for the first time, so that all NAN gets better every day.

Style Guide

Though every contributor has freedom to choose how to organize his/her article, we aim to give NAN´s texts a common feel by styling “general” articles the same way: link, image, quote and content. If you want to skip reading and go directly to the place we talk about, the link is there, right at the beginning; if you want to know some more, a quote will give you first-hand information on the subject; if you want to know more, the rest of the article comes next for you reading pleasure.

Periodicity

NAN is a work of love. We aim at keeping a constant flow of articles, but this goal is sometimes hard to reach. However, we are persistent, and every new contributor and suscriber gives us strenght and hope. :)
